Communities secretary Eric Pickles has approved a planning application for more than 700 new homes in Rainham, Essex.

The Dovers Corner scheme, by Weston Homes, was given approval following the recommendation of a government planning inspector.

Havering Council had originally turned the scheme down, but the inspector decided that the scheme complied with the London Plan and was part of the borough’s development plan.
