Construction work on the Olympic Games helped to employ 4,000 workers who were previously out of work, according to a new report by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

The report found that 10 per cent of the 40,000 construction workers employed on preparations for the Games were previously unemployed.

The figures showed that between April 2008 and June 2011, 25,864 people were employed for five or more days on the Olympic Park, with 13,479 employed for the athletes' village.
